Airlines halted flights to and from Europe for a fourth day as the ash plume from the Eyjafjallajokull volcano grounded planes on both sides of the Atlantic. But European Union transport ministers reached a deal to cut the size of the no-fly zone beginning Tuesday.
In Washington, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) said in its first statement on the matter that it supports the decision to resume air traffic, but said the return of operations depends on the ash cloud's track.
